PilogaFit - Spine

PilogaFit exercise practice, with mindful movement, is pitched to help all; particularly those with weak abdominal muscles and/or low back pain.

 

The postures are based on the recommendations of famous back specialist Dr Stuart McGill. A key objective is to mobilise the hips and shoulders to spare and stabilise the lumbar spine. The class will help participants to stop rounding their shoulders and back as we are all becoming addicted to forward bending bad posture, which is a major contributor for back pain. Movements will activate the core muscles that support the natural lumbar curve in the spine, like guy ropes to a tent pole.

Osteoporosis Exercise Class

2-3pm every Wednesday, Holy Trinity Church and Community Centre, Yeovil

Cost: £4 per session

The Osteoporosis Support Group runs a weekly exercise group led by a registered Physiotherapist. the classes involve mainly chair based exercises with some exercises done in standing. They are very gentle exercises and would suit anyone who is worried about taking up exercise after a long break from that kind of activity, has existing health conditions, walks with sticks or a frame, or indeed has Osteoporosis. They are designed to improve strength and balance so as to avoid falls which are the main cause of fractures in older people.

Philippa Hendy Pilates

 

Mixed sessions (where women and men are welcome) are run at WIVELISCOMBE on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings, and at HALSE on Tuesday mornings (WOMEN ONLY) and Wednesday evenings (MEN ONLY).   

 

NEW Women Only Class, particularly suitable for anyone with osteoporosis as most of the exercises are performed in a standing position (load bearing).  Balance pads are provided in class, to give extra challenge (and fun) to some of the exercises.
